As of 2024 "From the Heart" currently mail handmade cards and pictures every month to over 100 people who have been nominated by friends or family to receive them. That's more than 1200 mailings every year! Cards and pictures are made by children in schools, churches, individuals and even adults who want to create a picture or card to brighten the day of someone who could use a pick-me-up. 

The recipients of “Creative Cards” have been nominated by their friends, family, and co-workers because they are going through a difficult time.  Some of our recipients have been receiving a monthly card for several years!  Often times we receive thank you cards from the recipients sharing how much they look forward to the mailings each month.  Many have saved the pictures and we have heard time and time again about the nightstands and refrigerators displaying the pictures! Many recipients are senior citizens and we have included the pictures and cards in our monthly gift bags to local nursing homes so every handmade picture is a wonderful source of positivity!

  Items we always need:

• Stamps to mail the Creative Cards
• Handmade cards with uplifting pictures and/or “have a great day”, “thinking of you” sentiments
• Larger size envelopes (like the size of a "Hallmark" card 5.5" X 8.5")
• Stickers to decorate the envelopes and/or volunteers to color/decorate the outside of the envelopes

We also keep our mailing list private.  If you have someone you know who would love to receive monthly cards and pictures, please email us at [email protected] and we will gladly begin to send these special cards and pictures.  We will include a note with the first mailing sharing that you have nominated them to begin to receive cards and pictures.  It is a simple way to bring a bright spot into someone's day each month!
