Do you enjoy to Knit or crochet…and only have a little extra time these days?
Would you like to take part in helping to bring warmth and comfort to a child?
While this particular overview is about creating squares to help us donate additional blankets, our goal is is always to collect finished blankets ready for donation so please know ANY FINISHED BLANKET YOU MAKE READY FOR DONATION IS TRULY APPRECIATED! The "Squares of Care"program simply allows for people to use up their spare yarn and to be able to participate by creating a portion of a blanket. It all depends upon the time and skill level you are at - please feel free to make a finished blanket if you are so inclined in any pattern you like! It does not need to just be squares. If time does not allow, our Squares of Care program is another great way you are helping us out!
Our goal is to be able to provide hundreds of blankets each year filling the requests from DCF, Covenant-To-Care and Our Adopted Family Program. Our “Squares of Care” program offers one way you can help bring comfort and warmth to a child in need. “From The Heart” also accepts store purchased twin sized blankets in fleece, cotton or knit prints!
“From The Heart” welcomes your help making knitted or crocheted squares of any size, color, or design! Generally square sizes should be 10” x 10”, however truly any size we can work with! When completing your final bounded off row, please leave a 10” strand of yarn when you make your final cut. We will use that 10” strand to begin to attach your square to another square. No problem if you forget or if you run out of yarn…it just makes it easier to begin the process if we have that extra yarn to use! With many colors and unique styles they look great!

Each square within a “Squares of Care” blanket is unique and special….just as each child is unique and special. Each square represents a gift or a talent that the child or teenager themselves has. We encourage each recipient to find those strengths and gifts that make them happy!
